Do you trust what complete strangers tell you?

I’m not talking about the guy at the gas station giving you directions—I mean the warm referral, the “you really need to talk to this person” kind of connection. The ones our networks deliver when we need them most.

Those are gold in the entrepreneurial world because let’s face it, it’s lonely out here when you’re building something new.

You’re trailblazing with harebrained ideas, wondering if there’s actually a business model buried in your vision. Questions pile up: What should I charge? Is there real revenue potential? How do I know if this will stick?

The people around you want to help. They see your idea, sometimes see themselves in it, and they offer their networks.

So, should you take help from complete strangers?

The Aha Moment

I just had this happen to me, and it caught me completely off guard.

I was talking with someone I’d never met, a warm referral from my network. As they shared their experience, my internal response was, “Nah, that’ll never apply to me.”

Then I went out to mow the grass.

You know what happens when you’re mowing? Flow state. Your brain isn’t actively thinking, there’s a whole lot of “nothing” going on.

That’s when things land.

And this stranger’s advice? It connected. Deeply. To a passion project I’m developing.

Their outside perspective gave me clarity I couldn’t see from inside my own situation. It helped me get direction, traction, and focus on who this project is for and what outcomes it will deliver.

It made me recommit to my sprint timeline because I know this will be life-changing for the right people.

When Strangers Know Best

Here’s the thing about entrepreneurship: We need outside perspectives, especially from people who’ve been where we’re trying to go.

Listen when they’ve walked your path. Experience trumps theory every time.

Trust your instincts. Good advice resonates because it connects to something you already sense but haven’t articulated.

And stay tuned for my passion project launch.

It’s soul-led, mission-driven, and designed to deliver huge success for the people who resonate with it.

Best,
Patty
